Squalane oil is created when squalene oil (note the "e") undergoes hydrogenation processing. That turns the squalene from an unsaturated oil into a saturated one. In fact, squalane is a 100 percent saturated oil, which makes it even MORE stable than coconut oil (which is around 80 to 90 percent saturated fat). it is a hydrocarbon, meaning it’s made up entirely of hydrogen and carbon. Squalane and squalene are both naturally occurring components of human sebum! both naturally occurring components of human sebum! Derived from Sugar cane.
